Charmil Y. Davis is an award-winning, multi-media journalist and New Jersey native who started her broadcasting career in 2002. From the press corps for the New Jersey Statehouse and the White House, she has landed numerous high profile interviews, including with President Barack Obama (shown with Charmil), Governor Chris Christie (NJ) and New Jersey’s very first African-American woman speaker of the General Assembly, Sheila Y. Oliver. She has also hosted and produced local radio shows with Newark, NJ’s Former Mayor Cory Booker and Plainfield, NJ’s Former Major Al McWilliams. Charmil also reports on sports, including a recent focus on the Big East.
Inspired by her own experience, Charmil has recently turned her personal attention to supporting colon cancer patients and people with Lynch Syndrome. In addition to a fundraiser with the Brooklyn Nets Foundation, she is partnering with Dr. Felicia E. Mebane to establish a foundation with this mission.
Charmil’s current battle is with colon cancer AND Lynch Syndrome. At a young age, she joins the millions of people in and out of the hospital for chemo treatments and dealing with how it makes her feel.
Still, she takes time to raise funds and awareness in support of colon cancer care. Stay tuned for more information about her new efforts, including the Brooklyn-based Charmil Y. Davis Foundation for Colon Cancer Support and Prevention.
